Plaintiff was admitted to a hospital in Fairfax County to give birth and during the C-section operation, her OBGYN perforated her small intestine/bowel. She required several subsequent surgeries and went into coma after she suffered from blood poisoning. Plaintiff claimed a negligent delay in treatment and failure to timely diagnose the problem. Defendant surgeon claimed that the perforation was an inherent risk of the procedure and denied making any mistake during the operation.
