Plaintiff was a customer at a major retail grocer in Fairfax County and walking down an aisle when a large metal ceiling vent fell on her head. At the time, a contractor was doing some renovation work in the aisle but it was not blocked off and there were no warning signs. Plaintiff sustained a concussion, which developed into post-concussive syndrome. She saw doctors for about one year and had less than $10,000 in medical bills and less than $10,000 in lost wages.
